Wekiflo is a screen recorder made by Wekihub. It is available as an extension for Google Chrome and as an app for Windows and Mac. This policy explains what Wekiflo does with your data. The short version: Wekiflo works entirely on your computer. Your recordings and everything Wekiflo learns while recording stay on your computer, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
What Wekiflo collects and why
Wekiflo only collects what it needs to make your video, only while you are recording, and keeps it on your computer:
- The picture and sound you choose to record: a browser tab, window, screen, app window or region, and, only if you turn them on, your microphone, webcam and tab or computer sound.
- Where you click and what you click on: the position of the pointer, the position and size of the button, link or field you clicked, scrolling, and when pages load. Wekiflo uses this to place its automatic zooms and draw its smooth cursor.
- That a key was pressed, never what you typed. Wekiflo notes when typing happens (so the camera holds still) and, for shortcuts with Ctrl, Cmd or Alt, the shortcut's name, to show it on screen if you want. It never records the characters you type.
- The page's title and address, to show them in the browser frame around your video. The part of an address after
#is never recorded, and the part after?only if you turn on "Show the full address" (off by default). - Where sensitive fields are (such as email addresses, card numbers and passwords), so Wekiflo can blur them. Their contents are not recorded as data.
- In the desktop app on Windows, the kind of thing you clicked (for example a button, a file or a list item) and its box on screen, asked from Windows' accessibility service, to decide whether to zoom. Never its name or text.
Your recordings, these details, your edits, captions and settings are stored in Wekiflo's own storage on your computer (the browser's storage for the extension, the app's folder for the desktop app). You can delete any recording from Wekiflo at any time; uninstalling Wekiflo deletes its storage.
What Wekiflo sends over the internet
Nothing. Wekiflo makes no network requests while you use it: no uploads, no cloud processing, no analytics, no crash reports and no advertising. Speech-to-text for captions, face framing and background blur run on your computer with models that ship inside Wekiflo. The desktop app blocks every outgoing request. You only leave Wekiflo for the web if you click a link to this website, for example to buy a plan.
License keys
If you buy Pro or Lifetime, you receive a license key. It contains your plan, the email address you bought with, and the dates it was issued and, for Pro, expires. Wekiflo stores the key on your computer and checks it there, offline, against a signature. It is never sent to us when you use Wekiflo.
Buying a plan
Purchases are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the seller of record and processes your payment details; we never see your card number. We receive your name, email address, country and order details so we can send your license key, handle refunds and support, and keep the records the law requires. We use them for nothing else and never sell them. See the website privacy policy for details.
Chrome extension permissions
- Tab capture, desktop capture and offscreen documents: to record the tab, window or screen you choose.
- Active tab and scripting: to note clicks, scrolling and page loads on the page you record, for zooms and the cursor.
- Storage and unlimited storage: to keep your recordings and settings on your computer.
- Access to all sites (optional, off until you allow it): to note clicks on other pages you visit while recording your screen or a window, so zooms work there too.
The use of information received from Chrome's APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: it is used only to provide Wekiflo's recording and editing features to you, it is not transferred to anyone, it is not used for advertising, and no person reads it.
Children
Wekiflo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices and rights
Because your recordings are only on your computer, you control them completely. For the details we hold about a purchase, you can ask us for a copy, a correction or deletion (except what we must keep by law) by emailing [email protected].
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date above. If a change means Wekiflo would handle your data differently, we will say so in the app before it applies.
